hi, i would like your advice...
how do i get all my s760 samples which are all on floppy discs off
there and onto a mac?
kontakt now recognizes roland files, so i dont need to convert them,
just get them off the dics? there are many...
for some reason i cant get the laptop- a black g4 running os9, to
recognize the drives? am i using the wrong scsi cables? is there
some driver im missing? etc etc...
There are several issues here:
The S760 disks have their own unique format and will not simply be
recognised by a Mac.
Test: does the drive you are using work if you insert a PC or Mac
formatted disk?
Once the drive can be seen to be working with "normal" disks, you
need a program which will recognise the Roland-format disks. For OS9,
your could try SMac. I think there is a version which works with
S760/1.4 Mb disks. However, this converts the samples to aiff files
which is probably not what you want.
I just tried using CDXtract and Translator in OSX (both are
conversion apps) but neither of them recognise the disk content. I
have however had success with CDXtract and Zip disks. Your option
therefore could be to find a SCSI Zip drive, re-save all your S760
stuff onto Zip disks, then hook the Zip drive to your Mac and get the
stuff off there via CDXtract.
Life, data and progress are not an easy mix.......
