What about the S-770? Mine came without the internal
40 mb (!)
drive so I've
been thinking about storage options for some time as I'm growing
old of the
floppy loading routine.
On a related note, where can one purchase the Roland CD-Roms these
days?
Many thanks
Vic

the s series can only communicate to external scsi devices with the
optional scsi adapter board. there is no way to swap out the internal
floppy for some other kind of device without rewriting the system
software and likely extreme circuit mods. i guess there could be some
arcane way of hacking the scsi controller slot, but again, software
rewrite would be part of the equation.

Has anyone tried to install anything other than the standard floppy
drive into a S-550, might it be possible?
Also, anyone know about the sequencer software, and dongle for the
S-series units. I believe they are labeled for use with their
intended sampler model, but could, and or is the software, and
dongles interchangeable with other models?
Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
