Hi Peter,
MESA: File format for the Akai S3000, separate files for the programs
(.s3p) and the samples.
To get samples in to your computer is easy. On Mac (which is what I
use), I open CDXtract.
I then insert the Roland CD-ROM, and when the Mac gives me an alert,
I choose <ignore>
I then select <Search for sampler discs> in CDXtract, and it finds
the CD, and displays all the data on the CD. It's then just a matter
of choosing what you want to convert.
You can also create new multi-layered programs, combine programs with
crossfades or velocity switches and preview samples directly in the
app.
I think there's a demo which you can test for yourself...

i'm in minneapolis now... yeah i'm out here because i won't get to tour with
a friend of mine again this year since he's moving to japan in early may, so
i'm like fuck it i'll come out, play some parties or whatever.
tonite i'm playing on two different radio shows [one of them hard acid, the
other all gameboy - you'll see on my myspace, timeheater], then i'm playing
a mix of the different stuff at some party, and then tomorrow i'm playing at
some bar for a new future/retro electronic night, flying home on monday.

Not an expert either, so please take w/big grain of salt:
My understanding is one should always turn on a SCSI peripheral device (hard
drive, CD drive/burner) before turning on the master device (computer,
sampler). And turn off the master device before turning off the peripheral.
So how would a SCSI splitter allow for that if either master device was
running? Switching from one master device to another would seem to be as if
you're:
--Turning off the peripheral before turning off the master you're deselecting
with the switcher.
--Turning on the peripheral after turning on the master device you're
selecting with the switcher.
You probably already plan to cut off one master before switching and only
starting the other master after you've switched. That is, switch masters while
both are turned off. That may work, I dunno.
My longwinded point is: switching on the fly while any master device was
running would seem unadvisable.

Hi Bernie:
Thank you for the guidance.
I thought about that option as well, however there
would be no SCSI "space" for the computer to "talk" to
the samplers (since both of the external hard drive's
SCSI connectors would be used. My only solution would
probably be to use a SCSI splitter cable of some sort
so I can get the computer in the mix.

Hello,
I am trying to use S-Disk to create a system disk for
my Roland S760. Though the floppy is 2HD and is
formatted at 720KB, S-Disk is returning the error -
"Floppy is not formatted as DD (Double Density/720KB"
Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you,
Novice

Hello again,
Would anyone know how I can setup two S760's to load
the system software from one hard drive? I've been
trying to picture the SCSI chain, but am not sure how
I would do this while connecting a laptop to both
S760's.
Thank you,
Novice
