Oh, I see, it's quite strange.
the smt velocity does not control the actual velocity of the note,
(the Note on still does), but sometimes you can have a multi velocity
partial which has say 4 samples which chop the Velocity up into
sections.
Partial #1
Sample 1 = 1->40
Sample 2 = 30->60
Sample 3 = 50 -> 100
Sample 4 = 90 -> 127
Note how the samples overlap so we can use the crossfades.
When a Note On is received, the partial must know the Velocity so it
knows which samples to trigger. If the SMT is set to say a CC#2 and
SMT Velocity Control is set to off, then the value of CC#2 will
determine the Velocity.
However the Velocity of the Note on will still determine how loud the
samples sound.
Though, on the otherhand, if the SMT velocity control is set to On (or
Note ON controlled), then the incoming Note On velocities are used to
determine which velocity section of the partial to trigger.
