How does translator output roland format? Does it write

That's one way. Another way is to write directly to a SCSI drive
(like a Zip), and wrwiting to floppy support is coming.
What's the latest version of traslator?
2.9.122
I tried it once around 2001 or so and found it so buggy
as if to be unusable.
It could have been; that was a long time ago.
Can I just stick in an AKAI disk and it will spit out
in Roland
format? The native translation of AKAI on the roland is very slow
and painful. Plus the key velocity maps seem to be all wrong.
Generally you can, but it's probably best to do one Volume or one
Partition at a time. I'd like to see it do a full disk, no reason why
it can't.
