I just got a S550 with SCSI, and I hooked up a SCSI
CD-ROM Drive to it (Toshiba XM-5701B, very common and workable with lots of samplers),
with a S550 CD-ROM. When I do the HD Connection test, I get the Step 2 getting NG. (I
suppose that means No Good).
I do the same thing with a ZipDrive, and I get the same error. This is a different drive,
different media, and different SCSI cable. And in the CD-ROM case, and the ZipDrive case,
they work very well with other non-S550 units. And I tried several ZipDrives, several
ZipDisk, and several cables. Nothing.
The manual says that the Harddisk - Step 2 error is because "The external connector
and the harddisk are not securely connected or there is something wrong with the
harddisk." But that doesn't seem true. The Interface - Step 1 and 2, and
Harddisk - Step 1 succeed, but not Harddisk Step 2.
What would you think is the problem?
