Yes. You can use <Roland_2_SAM>
There are some restrictions....
I just tried it on my G5 under Classic, and it won't work with my
Imation Superdrive. (My link to the past)
I have all the necessary extensions - could be a problem with OSX and
720k disks.
So, I tried on my Powerbook running OS9.1 and it works just fine (as
always).
If so, make one, and then put that image file
(give it a .img, .nrg,
.iso, .dmg, or .toast extension) in a folder called Images in the
Native Instruments folder in Application Support in Library. Kontakt
2 may see it then.
I tried this (I only the the demo of Kontakt 2) and can't load.
Import does not work on the demo.
I wrote the conversion routines in Kontakt 2 and
deliberately
included support for all types of Roland S-50/550/7x formats,
including floppy images. If you find ones that don't work or exhibit
problems, let me know.
I'll e-mail you a file privately...

There's two issues here: one is getting the information from the floppy
drive onto the hard drive, and then getting that information (the .out
file) converted into Kontakt format.

Colin knows better at this, but I believe SMac (or similar) only works in
booted OS9, and creates the same data as SDisk (DOS/Windows) does - a
byte-for-byte image of the contents of the floppy. That's the .out file
that Kontakt 2 can take and convert.
I'm familiar with Terje's utilities (I sold EPSm for Ensoniq stuff), so I'm
surprised that SMac can do this correctly - I guess Roland floppies are 9
sector things, not 10-sector onese.

You're quite right - sorry if I didn't explain properly.
My main Mac is a G5 which does not boot in OS9.
The powerbook is a little elderly chap which does.
One also needs an extension in OS9 called <USB floppy enabler>,
without which the Roland disks don't work at all. The floppies have
to be pre-formatted on the Roland in oreder to write TO them (in the
case of writing disk images to floppy).

New subject: 'Anyone buy or make any interesting new samples?
I just got the new Ilio catalog and it got me thinking about me samples
for my S-760. Has anyone bought or made any interesting new samples for
their Roland samplers?
I miss Harold posting every once in a while about his new sample CD or
new ideas for making interesting use of his sampler.
