Hi,
I didn´t even know that this groups was still active!
As you can see, I am still here, and I have a S-550, that I have used for years both live
and in studio with my band and solo. Recently, however, it just will not end the startup
procedure. It turns on, and starts to read the floppy disk, but when it comes to the end
of the disk, it doesn´t finish, and just keeps spinning the disk without getting into user
mode. Of course I tried different disks, even dug out my original factory disks, but still
no luck. I know that the disk drives can go bad, as it is more or less the only machanical
part in there, but It seems strange to be the disk drive, as it reads the disk quite all
right. I am afraid that there is something else that is wrong.
So it seems that I too need to dig out my debugging tools.
All the best,
Terje

Greeting to one & all,,
I am simply thrilled to have found this URL once again since the last
century. I still have my original 1987 S50. 'She's been in her flightcase
for too long. Now I have a Gotec emulator & need to learn how to get it to
work w/ the s50. I know a lot about PCs, ok a little more than most. I
don;t have a floppy disk in my Win 7.1 Pro server. BUMMER i know for this
attempt. I do have a USB floppy drive and 100's of disks for both my S50 &
Korg I 30. Now to take a break, rest my weary eyes & then go read
what'shere online. If nothing else, using the S 50 should take me back to
my younger days. LOL
At 70 i am afraid i am not as quick a learner as i once was. At least i
am going to try.
Funny, or is it, I have a Yamaha MU-128 & 3 Emu rack mounts that i hardly
use--I wonder why I'm spending the time & $ to retrofit my S50. ??
well i guess it will keep me off the streets at night. ;)
Take care & God bless,
Don
