I'm on the list because I have an S-760 (and an S-550) and I still use them from time to time, though less and less as it happens. I like to keep in touch with discussions that are relevant to me.
I have some great S-760 sample libraries (eg Spectrasonics stuff) and I don't have time to do conversions of all of these for EXS24 or Kontakt.
I fully respect the old hardware for what it is and what it can do, but being able to run several GB of samples on an 8-core Mac (as opposed to 32 MB on an S-760) serves my needs just fine.

To me, Directwave is just the right amount of complex.

Hi guys,
I was thinking of making one of these for the S760, it would write ISO files
for use on say CDs or ZIP Drives.
It would have a nice user interface, based perhaps off the CRT Display that
the S760 puts, but i suppose it would allow you to edit the parameters
easier.
I could also take some "inspiration" off Kontakt (does anyone else find this
software klunky and difficult to use / make work?, Kontakt is powerful, but
it's useless if it's functionality is locked behind many layers of
complexity.) or DirectWave or something.
Are there any ideas which you wish the S760 could do easier or better?
Cheers,
Adrian
Ah yes, thanks for the help guys.
I'll have a look at global editing the Partials via the Patch page.
I don't know how I stumbled about this mailing list, but I always found the
Sgroup Archive page and just assumed that it was 'dead' and only archives.
Great to see you guys around.
This is in my apartment in Auckland, New Zealand with my setup.

Look on the Performance page, 4th tab, for velocity... also do you know
about globally adjusting all partials?

Hi there,
I use the S760 for live gigs / performances and it's great. I use it with
the Svideo out into my TV Capture USB Stick on my laptop. I setup the
patches and performances, save them to ZIP Drive and load em up before I
perform.
The only thing is that it's not that easy to adjust the velocity ranges for
patches that quick (you need to go into each partial and adjust them
manually). The new software samplers can do this in an instant of a click
drag and re-area ie. DirectWave / Kontakt.

S-7x support has been available for about 8-9 years now.
or this:

The Roland version is only $80, and worth every penny. This is a great tool if you need to move samples from other formats to Roland readable samples as it applies/preserves the pre-emphasis that Roland uses in 5xx and 7xx sample formats.
YMMV

I thought the convert function was to go from S-550 to S-50 and vice versa?
I just picked up a S-50 (got it for a steal, and wanted to use the drive in
that (it works great btw) to convert some of my floppy's over for use on the
S-550.
Thoughts?
