What is the chip, so we can look and tell you if
there's any chance this is the culprit.

Hello to all.
I have Roland S-50 sampler in nearly mint condition. Just one minor issue:
periodic overload (overdrive) of output signal. I've tested power/filter
board and it works fine. S-50 is equipped with multivoltage power supply
and I've tried 117 and 220V wirings but always is the same: every 7-8th
notes from S-50 are played distorted. The Visually sampler is in perfect
condition - all seems to work fine, there are no sights of burnt components
inside. This problem exists on all outputs: individual, phones, mix.
I've seen few mentions of similar issues in the internet:
http://www.vintagesynth.com/roland/s50.php and
http://jimatwood.wordpress.com/2011/09/16/free-roland-s-50-sampler-found/.
Does anybody know how to cope with this problem?
Thanks,

Hello All,
I've had my S-770 about 3 months now and it's been working like a champ
until today. I have 16 Mb of RAM that suddenly doesn't show up when the
system boots. The only thing that has changed about my system recently was
that I added an external SCSI HD, which the 770 had no problem
formatting/copying/loading/saving, etc.
I have removed all external devices (CD-ROM, Zip and HD) and tried
re-booting. The system loads from the internal HD fine, but I cannot load
anything into RAM because RAM memory is listed at 0.00 seconds. When I try
to load a Sample/Patch, etc the 770 just freezes.
Any thoughts?

Any of you see my post about holding down the number 1 key while
booting the S550?

Yeah
Thanks for that info Dennis - I'll give it a try. I hardly ever even switch my S550 on these days but it certainly would be nice to fix it.
Regards - Colin
PS
I wish this email group would have an auto-reply like yahoogroups. I always have to remember to paste in the sgroup <sgroup(a)sgroup.ca> address, otherwise the mail just replies to the poster.

You're right, it was in MOUSE mode and I just had to start up with
"1" pressed.

I had the same thing happen with my S550. I "think" (I'd have to look in the
manual) then when you turn it on if you hold down the number 1 key fixed it.
Something about it not trying to detect the mouse or something like that.
I'd have to look in the manual again.
Hope this helps

Yeah
Hi, I just got a S550 off eBay, wanted to support S550 a little more.
It has a problem; it looks like the down-arrow button is stuck or
something. When I hooked the unit to a monitor, the cursor goes down
by itself constantly.
Rather than returning it, I wanted to get a mouse for it (didn't come
with one). Where can one get a mouse for these units nowadays?
And can it be used for the S760 as well?
