I hope it's ok to post a s760 for sale here; I'm selling my last s-760
rig, which includes everything listed below and thought I'd offer it
to the list first; There are a lot of heavy peripherals so careful
shipping for everything will add to price. If you can pick up in NYC,
I will throw in the monitor;
Here's the info:
-Roland s760 sampler, 32mb RAM, video option installed, mouse, DA400
converter (provides 4 additional analog outputs),
Extras:
3x1 gb HD formatted with Roland OS, 1 SCSI CD ROM, 1 SCSI switcher (to
switch between multiple SCSI drives while s-s70 is powered up) scsi
cables, manuals; Also s-vhs monitor included with cable (if pick up)
$225 + shipping.

I was given a S-760 ( with ctr/mouse ), PS Systems rackmount containing Syquest 44mg and a cd rom (without the cd tray insert). This system works great, except the cd rom is usless without the tray.
I want to expand the SCSI chain but can not. Even a Iomega 100meg zip between the S-760 and the Syquest locks up the sampler. Not to mention my attempts to add a computer.
-I've changed the SCSI ID # on the S-760 to all available #s, no luck.
-Syquest ID 5
-started with really old computers, last being a dell optiplex gx240 (I'm looking for a mac)
Maybe someones kid can help me.

Hi. Not sure if this group is still active. Hope it is!
Is there anyone who can help me sorting the outputs on an S760. Trying to get individual patches to route to outputs 1-4 but some weird things are going on.
Regards
Matthew

Was there any documents together with the dt-100?
There is some space in my package...

Update on the recent discussion about converting S550 disks to
SoftSampler formats.
I did a few tests with the Mac beta of Translator and it's looking
really good. It just munches through all the old .OUT files in
seconds!!
Thanks to Garth and the team for breathing new life into our valuable
old disks and samples - I'm sure he'll announce when it's complete.
Regards - Colin
Hi folks,
There hasn't been any action on this group for months so I thought
I'd get something going....
I hardly use my S550 anymore but I have literally hundreds of floppy
disks of sounds. It seems a shame for all of these to not be used
anymore. This is really just laziness and ease of use - I work with
Logic Pro 8 and tend to use their EXS24 sampler exclusively.
I have the old S-Mac set of utilities for reading and writing S550
disks and sometimes use them to just lift sounds off the floppies,
for import into EXS24. This works okay for very simple things like
drum samples and hits.
I also use CDXtract and sometimes Translator to convert S760 disks
and these work well. I know it's possible to do a convert load of
S550 disks into S760, then convert via CDXtract to EXS24, but this is
is long process. To add to this, my S760 has suddenly become sick and
says I only have 1.2 MB RAM - I actually have 32MB. (But that's
another problem....)
Has anyone come across new (or old) utilities for bringing S550
sample disks into the 21st century? Something to read and convert
these precious old treasures.....
Regards - Colin
I have six boxes each with about 10 disks, that are the ORIGINAL
Roland sample floppies, bought from Roland, on Roland media.
They cost a fortune way back when, and are all really well done.
They are designed for s-550 and s-330 and w-30, but as I recall can
be convert loaded into s760, s770 and s750 as well. Maybe also DJ70!
As-is, because they are floppies. Every one of the samples I tested,
worked fine, so I'd expect no issues. Physically in excellent shape.
Even still have the little ID cards.
Yes, you could download and make disks, but the online archive seems
to have a few problem disks, and this will save you TONS of time.
I'll sell them *all* for $85 plus shipping,

Can folks use translator *free* to convert 550/770 out files?

Well, it all seems a little silly to me since our own group has had the Roland and a whole bunch of other sample libraries available for download for years:
http://www.generalconcepts.com/sgroup/archive/samples/
BTW, David Green's Lil Chips site is still up and running, just in stealth mode:
http://www.lilchips.com/roland/roland/index.asp
Some of David's S- images were corrupt and didn't load correctly but I can't remember which ones.

I'm not 'legally in the know', but wasn't there the this-or-that-site a
while ago (a shame I forgot the name)
from which lots of Roland-info & disk-images could be downloaded from ?
That site wasn't affiliated with Roland AFAIK, but dunno, maybe they had the
go-ahead from Roland ?
If not, then it'll be fine I guess, that site (ah, Li'lchips it was:
www.lilchips.com ) wasn't exactly low-profile,
so it'll have been OK I assume (for lack of a more founded evidence ;-)
As it seems they don't longer offer these disk-inages though.
Bye,
Peter

Hi guys,
Just put the files on the internet and let us download. If Roland had a problem before this, we would have known about it. They don't care about the old software. They're not going to personally come after one or 2 individuals in a lawsuit, they can't prove what samples you own or don't own. Later
