Thanks for the reply Steve. This list really HAS been quiet....
Just for the record, the 2 MB of RAM lives on the Motherboard. I'd
completely forgotten about that but found it when searching through
the manuals.
It's interesting....there are 4 possible configs:
If you add an 8MB chip into slot A, you'll have 8MB plus the 2MB
onboard = 10MB total.
If you add a 16MB chip into slot A, you'll have 16MB plus the 2MB
onboard = 18MB total.
If you add an 8Mb plus a 16MB, plus the 2 MB built-in = 26Mb total.
For some reason, if you use 2 x 16MB, the built-in 2MB is not used = 32MB
This comes from the Basic Manual.
So, I *DID* expect to see at least 2MB always, but certainly not 1MB,
as this is not really possible. It supports your theory that the
logic is faulty, not the RAM.
Oh damn.....
I think I'm in the market to buy a 2nd hand S760

Hi folks,
My trusty old S760 has suddenly become very ill.
I have 2 x 16 MB RAM chips but suddenly I am getting messages that
there is no memory left. The System parameters section seems very odd
- sometimes it says I have 2 MB and sometimes only 1 MB. The wave
memory seems to vary from boot to boot. Sometimes I have less than 1
sec (!!!) and sometimes about 8 sec.
I have tried the following:
- Rebooted many times from different system disks.
- Removed the RAM, and replaced it
- Swopped the RAM chips around.
- Tried with only one RAM chip in slot A
When I remove the RAM entirely, I get the onboard 2MB RAM that one
would expect.
So....is my RAM faulty or is there some kind of problem with the main
motherboard? Can one even get replacement RAM in this century?
I'd be grateful for any feedback and suggestions.
Regards - Colin
Hello,
I have a S550 inc the Roland mouse & the green screen .
no SCSI option but in VGC ...
Is anyone interested ?
Don't hesitate to contact me.
The item is in France.
Please advise,
PAtrice Jacquot.
So one end of the cable goes into the back of the S-Series sampler and the other end goes into a monitor. Which monitors have these kind of connections? And will the monitor display in color if connected using these cables with both the S-760 and the S-550 sampler?
Thanks.
Jesse
HelloI put on my site few month ago, a S7xx CDRom image of some of my S760 samples.
I just update the CD by add 3 news volumes.
I made all the samples from synth (K4R, U220, HS5, MU100R) or from freeware VST (B-Station, Crystal, NoteGraphica, SuperWave P8, Drumatic).I put the sounds as freeware. This CDRom incude after the update :- 10 volumes - 93 patches - 562 samples (636.8 sc) You can find the CDRom image on my site :http://jm1200.free.fr/index.php?r=7If you like it (or not) please let me know ;).JMD.

Hi there,
I am looking for s-330 system disk1(piano), system disk2(multipatch).
Already looked in the archive and only found one disk overthere. I'm helping
a friend out who lost these disks due to errors.
Tia. J.
I was a Roland sampler user, then converted to Directwave.
I liked Directwave because it is multiimbral, and allowed each part
to be changed via program changes. These are essential features. (I'd
love to get a Roland s7xx in software, but doesn't exist)
I want to change from Directwave to a larger company, so as to get
some support and an upgrade path, but it's hard to look at soft
samplers one after another to find what seems right. Kontakt is too big.
Any suggestions????
I'd really appreciate intelligent suggestions!
