Hi,
I have tried every which way to get sdisk to write S770_225.sdk to a floppy in dos and get my s750 to read it.
Can someone supply a copy of it. I wiil pay all costs. I'm desperate at this stage to get it working.
I'm located in Melb, Australia.
Thanks
Greg
Hello Peter, Hello @ *,
did you ever try to start the Programm in "Windows 98 Compatibility-Modus"?
You know, that you can start old Proggs in that Modus (Windows 95, Windows
98/ME, Windows 2000 Modus) if they are having problems with WinXP?
(Right Mouseclick on Programm, Properties, then choosing your Modus)
Hope this helps,
Btw: is this a orig. Roland Progg, or a third party Program? Is it just for
S550 ? (cause i am searching a S760 Edit Progg)

Hello,
( Let's just give this one another try. )
Blew the dust of my S-550 and tried to use it with PC-program S550edit
(using WinXP).
Anyone got this working OK ?
Settings verified to be correct (MIDI-I/O, Sysex-ID 'on' & ID@1)
but I'm getting all kinds of error-messages like 'vbMidiInOpen not supported, use
capabilities function to check what the driver supports'.
Could there be a reason that this program can't work with WinXP ?
Thanks,
Peter

You can't just copy the file to a floppy - the file is a disk image
and you need a special program to copy it onto a floppy in Roland format.
See, for example, the information here:
http://www.generalconcepts.com/sgroup/archive/samples/Roland/ReadMes/
Cheers

Hi,
I've just got a S 750 with no operating system disk.
Would anyone know where I could get it or is the S 770 downloads here the one I should use?
Thanks
Greg
Hello everybody,
i am a newbee at this list, so please contact me, if anything is not like
you want.
A question about the s760 Sampler:
- Does exist a List of the SystemExclusiveParameter ? Can i use SysEx Datas
to control the S760 in anyway?
Cause i want to Control the S760 via Cubase/MixerMaps, and i have just the
manual from RolandUS.com, where no SysEx-Masseges are explained.
I know there should be some, cause to use "Load Ousnd/Volume via MIDI" i
have to use special SysEx Parameters, but in the Manual are no special
declared.
So, thanx for your Infos and help,
Oliver

XP is your problem. The SDisk utility doesn't work in post ME-type MS OS's.
Do this:
1) Put the .out files on a non-NTFS hard drive. Usually this is your
recovery partition that most people have. The reason you do this is because
in the next step, you won't be able to access NTFS drives.
2) Download the Win98 Boot Disk with SDisk on it.
www.rolandsamplers.org/bin/win98bootdisk.zip
3) Unzip the file (the boot disk maker), and run the file
(win98bootdisk.exe). This process creates your Win98 Boot Floppy.
4) With floppy in your drive, reboot your computer. It should boot off the
floppy, and it is automated to create a RAMDisk and put SDisk, along other
programs, on the RAMDisk (should assign it as the k: drive).
5) After all this finishes, the command line should appear. Type "sdisk"
(without the quotes) and hit ENTER. Use SDisk to write each file to a new
floppy disk. (For instructions how to use SDisk, type "edit sdisk.txt"
(without the quotes) and hit ENTER.)
6) Reboot your computer with no floppies in the drive; it should boot up
normally into XP.

Hi guys,
I know how to access the archive of samples on the website for this list. My question is, after I download the zip files, how do I get the files on to a disk that the roland s-50 will recognize? The pc doesn't like the disks either when I've tried to copy s-50 disks. I'm using windows xp. Thanks for any help.

A solution has already been posted (adding the .out extention), but I was
wondering if the problem above was trying to access the Superdrive with an
application running in Classic.
My (perhaps mistaken) impression was you'd need to actually boot up in OS 9
(not X/Classic) in order to run a pre-OS X app. and have it interface with any
sort of drive (other than the HD) or peripheral hardware. (Note the Pwrbook
running OS 9 worked fine.)
Might that be the problem? (If the .out extension works, I guess not . .
..)
Curious, not a expert,
Kevin Seward
