hi, i would like your advice...
how do i get all my s760 samples which are all on floppy discs off
there and onto a mac?
kontakt now recognizes roland files, so i dont need to convert them,
just get them off the dics? there are many...
for some reason i cant get the laptop- a black g4 running os9, to
recognize the drives? am i using the wrong scsi cables? is there some
driver im missing? etc etc...
any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

S-550 had an ability to create lots of patches from the one sample,
without using anymore sample memory.
Each patch having different start, end and loop points, filters,
envelope,playback and ouput assignments etc.
So it was like having virtual samples, and was a way to split a drum loop up
into smaller
parts without physically cutting the sample.
I tried my hardest but I couldn't get the S760 to do this short of
copying the sample and creating a new patch many years ago.
I am thinking of getting another, and someone told me this had been fixed?

Ok, it has been a very long time since I have done this but as best I
can recall. you can connect your mac via daisey-chain to your S-760
as long as your mac is the last on the chain. There is a specific
boot sequence but I can not remember if the S-760 or Mac have to boot
first.
Once you have established the connection you can use Peak to download
Performances or Patches (other things may also be possible). I do not
believe that you can copy items directly from the drives but things
may have changed since I did this. Essentially what you are doing is
establishing a direct connection to your S-760 for purposes of
editing and transferring Performances/Patches between the Mac and
S-760.
Also, if you save Performances or Patches to an external Roland
formatted disk (you can get up to 500mb on one disk). You can then
connect this drive directly to your Mac via SCSI. Again there is a
boot sequence but what you are going to want to do is launch Toast,
then turn on the SCSI drive. If all goes well you want to perform a
"Device Copy" (I hope that is right) with Toast and burn a CD. This
will give you a Roland formatted CD. If Kontakt reads Roland
formatted disks then you are home free, if not then use something
like CDXtract or Translator to translate the patches to Kontakt
format.

Yes I own two 760's I love them. I am not sure your still into this 760 deal or not but I'll ask my question anyway.
I use mine for drums and bass mostly some Elect Piano. I play live and the Drums are good mostly just a trap set some cym sounds I have to use the M-GS64 as a 2 sec sample on the 760 is just to long for a ride cym to use.
All I want today is how can I control cutoff and resonance per each patch? Via my cakewalk. I did read in the manual that this could be done I just didn't get it.
I read on an old sgroup that some guy was doing this. How he didn't say in fact this is what he said

I do it all the time on my 760...I'm not sure about the 550...anyone?

Hello everybody !
Does anyone knows how to handle a crazy Roland S50 ? The problem is
that when loading process from disk drive is complete (OS 2.0 with
samples), the S50 becomes locked: no buttons operate, no sounds from
audio output, nor MIDI OUT messages ... all seems to be frozen.
May be floppy drive so the loading process has failed ?
I hope someone can help me.

I have an older Boss sampler (Dr. Sample SP-202) that uses Smartmedia cards.
First, which cards do I need : 4mb at 3.3v or 5v?? And then, any
recommendations where to find them? I've tried looking on EBay, which offers few 5v, and
many 3.3v cards.

Has anyone experimented with using memory cards with a SCSI card reader on
the Roland S-series? This is an s760.
I have tried it with 2 SCSI card readers with a PCMCIA card to Compact
Flash adaptor and 32 m CF card and no luck. :(
Sampler cannot format the cards, so they can't be written to.
I'm wondering if this is hopeless, or if I should try to get an actual
PCMCIA memory card to try, thus eliminating the adaptor/CF card variable.
Anyone done ANYTHING like this before?

I've tried multiple SCSI readers now on an s760, and still no luck.
I tried the Microtech PCD-47B today, and it sees the CF card, but will not
format it.
Anyone have any better luck?

I find myself in a position where I am forced to sell my S-760 and
SRV 3030D digital reverb
So I know whether or not this painful undertaking would be worth the
grief, I thought I would ask if anyone knows what a decent price to
ask would be. I checked on ebay and they were so cheap they seemed to
be almost giving them away.
Anyway the S-760 is equipped with the optional digital board and
includes an RC-100.
I've got a bunch of other studio stuff I'm needing to sell if anyone
wants to contact me off list.

PS:
If you get S760 data onto a Zip disk, one can make a disk image from
that and burn to CD. However, once you have the data in disk image
format, you may be able to access directly from there into MachFive.
