I recently got MachFive a universal sampler made by MOTU which runs on
the Mac. It supports many formats, including Roland S7xx. I was
thinking about how to transferred into MachFive. I don't have any
Roland S7XX samplers, but I do think they can read S-330/S-50 disks?
Maybe the best route is to use the SamDisk utility and read in the
S-330 disks and re-configure them in MachFive?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi folks,
following last nights resounding null result I've had a couple of thoughts.
Firstly it is possible that the CF card I had was supposed to be 3V3 rather
than 5V in which case it's as dead as a Dodi...
ALso we use IDE flash drives at work adn have a few corrupt ones lying
around so I'm taking them home (I've had previous success reinitialising
them with an Atari Falcon so I tend to get to do this as a way of fixing
them anyway) and I'll try running them through. These drives need no driver
for normal IDE uses so I live in hope that they'll work OK. If they do then
as long as I don't want an enormous capacity (I don't, I want robust and
light portability) then these drives are pretty cheap, 32Mb would be about
15UKP or so, with the SCSI-IDE adapter costing me about the same.... Now I
know that 30 UKP for 32MB is rubbish by modern standards it will be a
lighter adn more robust than any normal hard-drive, all I need to get in
them is the 18Mb load for the S750 and the 4Mb for the JS30, I don't plan on
reloading during a gig so it all goes in as one setup......

All the bits I've been buying on ebay have turned up and I will try to post
initial results tonight.... basically the idea is to see wether it is
feasible to use a SCSI-IDE adapter (Yamaha) attached to an IDE-Compact Flash
adapter with a CF card in it as a drive on S7nn series samplers. Initial
experiment will be with a JS30 as I have one set up at home, I will also be
trying it with an S750, and as a final shot will try to get an S750 to
boot-load from it as well as hosting to the JS30 as a hard-drive..... ie if
I have both the JS30 and the S750 connected to it will it be able to boot
the S750, load in 18Mb to the S750 then load 4Mb into the JS30.....
Fingers crossed....

My CRT monitor for my s760 seems to be going bad..
Anyone use a cheap LCD monitor that has been good?

Yes, the Diretor-S software. For those that dont know, I believe it is a 3
disk (floppy) software package for the S-550. It also came with a dongle needed
to run the sequencer.
Im getting it to complete my S-550/RC-100/DT-100 collection

Uhh, is there one ? Oh, I see, you mean the Director-S ? (or what was it
called)
No, not using it - while it'll work, these days there are better
alternatives - but that wasn't your question, sorry.

Peter

Yup! The new mail mailing list software, mailman, which I moved the
list to a couple of weeks back, allows all sorts of options.
Go here:
| For subscribe/unsubscribe: http://www.sgroup.ca/mailman/listinfo/sgroup
and scroll down to the bottom, and enter your email address beside
the "Unsubscribe or edit options" button, and click. Once you enter
your password (and it will send you your password if need be), one
of your choices is "Set Digest Mode". (I just did the equivalent
for you.)
Cheers!

David,
I believe the R-8 allowed for expansion cards, such as 808 909, etc. The R-5 was as is...

Does anyone remember the difference between the R8 and the R5? Were the
pads on the R5 just as good? Also, anyone know the dimensions of the
R-5? It's width and length?
Thanks in advance,
